The storm
A mobile Doppler radar truck sits out on the open plains, dish swung round and tilted up, tracking a tornado on the horizon.
Drawn in graphite on toned paper, the piece keeps the restraint of a field sketch: the storm is a quiet shape in the distance rather than an event, and the machine is the subject. Every rib of the reflector, the tilt yoke and drive motor, the equipment cabinets bolted to the deck.
