The storm
The Moore tornado of May 20, 2013, drawn as a vintage field survey sheet. Its 13.8-mile path crosses a topographic map of Newcastle, Moore and the edge of Oklahoma City, coloured along its length by the strength of damage the National Weather Service survey found, with the EF5 core plotted through Moore. Touchdown and lift are marked with their times, the towns it passed through are named, and state lines are marked where the map crosses them. Below the map sit a short written account of the day and the figures: path length, maximum width, rating, time of touchdown, deaths and injuries. Aged paper with ink bleed, foxing and fold lines.
Print Details: - Printed on ultra-high-quality Premium Lustre Paper for a professional, semi-gloss finish. - Available unframed, or framed in White, Black, Light Natural Wood or Dark Brown Wood. - Available Sizes: A4 (8x12), A3, A2, and A1.
About the artwork: The Plains Storm Survey Board is invented, and so are its seal and form numbers. This is not the work of any real agency. Damage paths are from the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, the NCEI Storm Events Database and the NWS Damage Assessment Toolkit where a survey exists.
